The three words that come to mind when preparing for a good night out with friends and family in London. As an ex-pat kiwi, I decided to hold a Christmas party with all my foreign friends who will be 'orphans' this festive season. To this extent, I chose to turn back the clock and go skating at the fully licensed venue at the Renaissance Rooms in Vauxhall, London.
The rooms are open Thursday-Sunday each week and can be booked out to suit any size of function. They are fully licensed so you can naturally apply some 'pain killers' to the bumps and bruises you are bound to get while pulling those sweet dance moves.
To get started, I booked a booth (£50 quid) to give us some space to congregate during the night. Access to the place was hassle free (easy with a GPS on your phone), the doormen seemed welcoming and explained the process of entering to getting your skates. Secondly, we were shown to our booth and given our complimentary bottles of champagne (that comes with the booth booking). After having our booth set up with balloons and drinks, we were set to go (see photo below).
The Renaissance Rooms have 2 roller dance floors so depending on your music taste you could pick and choose. There were staff members skating around making sure everyone stayed safe and was going in the right direction.
The toilets were clean and tidy, although the taps did not work in the male ones.
The bar was easy to get to and the staff behind the bar were quick and friendly so there were no long queues.
From all accounts, everyone who attended this party had a great time. I fully recommend bringing your next party to this venue, for more information visit - www.rollerdisco.com
